Twitter: Serving a Purpose, or Popularity Contest?

Twitter: Serving a Purpose or Popularity Contest? When I began to aggressively pursue digital marketing strategies, I decided to enter the world of Twitter . Marketing (especially digital marketing) is quite similar to IT in the way that it's ever-changing. You are only as good as the latest strategy. If you were a marketing guru on Myspace but haven't a clue about Facebook then dude.. you're behind the times. Myspace marketing is quite niche whereas Facebook is more mainstream. Linkedin has also come leaps and bounds when it comes to the implementation of market-friendly strategies. Then, there's twitter: Twitter is a social media platform that allows you to type short messages in 140 or so characters or less. Since we now live in Generation teXt, instant gratification is a prerequisite for interaction in just about any form. So getting to the bottom of a message in 140 characters is appealing to many. Twitter also allows photos and clickable links and/or "card...

The Sound Of Music: Video Tutorials For Aspiring Artists and Audio Engineers

Recently, while working on a marketing project and driving the clients social media content, I realized that a large portion of the client's following were musicians. After brainstorming a few angles to exploit potential marketing opportunities, I began to think of just how hard it is to successfully penetrate the music industry. This led me to do some online research (where else do we research anymore?) and I found Waves . Waves is an online merchant providing signal processing solutions for professional, broadcast and consumer electronics audio markets. Their products range from Mixers & Racks to Plugins and Bundles. Pricing vary according to what you are looking to purchase. There is also a page of artist testimonials to give credibility to the quality of the products offered.  Aside from the points mentioned above, what truly made me appreciate Waves was the page within the their website dedicated to video tutorials . It provides a wealth of information to those who ...

Want To See An Indie Film Promo? Open This.

Here's the story: I do marketing. One of the best parts of primarily marketing startup and small businesses is that I get to see the coolest things being build from the ground up. Recently, I began working on a Sci-fi series called Sons of God , directed by Leonardo Sanderson which tells the story of 7 people who are chosen to battle Lucifer over the fate of the universe. Being a movie buff, this opportunity has been interesting because I was able to gain a perspective I never had and as a result gain a respect for film making as well. With that being said, here is the first promo. Please keep in mind that as a marketing professional, it is my job to circulate content and I have had no creative input in this project. All credit goes to the filmmaker, actors, producers, etc. Comments encouraged (constructive criticism and positive feedback alike)!

Why A Booty Equals Big Bucks

Just what is it about that massive backside that keeps women squatting religiously in the gym, injecting themselves with body fat and fillers, or posting numerous pics looking over their shoulder smiling flirtatiously in the shadow of their more attention-grabbing rear?  Some may say JLo started the beauty of the booty. Others may point to the gawking of Sarah Baartman. Either way, there is no denying that a delectable derrier commands attention...but why? Allow me to explain: Whether you are an avid cheek chaser, or anti derriere display from the moment you click, share, or like that image or link there is someone that you will never see who is tracking your engagement. There is someone who takes your action as a positive indicator of a successful #marketing campaign. Never mind if you shared the post and bashed it for it's desperate plea for attention. Forget about tagging your friends and lamenting over what is wrong with society today. The bottom line is: You sh...

Startup Help: Top 3 Reasons Why Social Media Isn't Converting to Sales

Social media is a fantastic way to market your business without spending a fortune. With the implementation of ad campaigns on sites like Twitter, Facebook, and more recently Linkedin even the smallest startup can throw their hat in the ring and try to get sales. I too decided to utilize this method when I started my business, Estwick Marketing . What I didn't know was that while social media can be a fantastic marketing tool, it can also have minimal yield if done incorrectly. A friend once told me that the path to success was paved with mistakes. He didn't actually word it that way but that was the gist of what he was saying. Anyhow, you have to learn what not to do before you learn what you need to do. Here are the top three things I learned along the way while marketing my startup on social media: Do your research: Find out where other businesses that are similar to yours are posting. If it's working for them, it will likely work for you. You won't be able t...
