Gimme A Beat : Discover The Awesomeness of Incredibox

Gimme' a beat! Janet said it. Why can't I?  A few posts ago, I shared a site that allowed you to purchase downloadable software that allows you to make fresh beats in the comfort of your own home. That's right, a studio on your computer.  But what if you don't want to learn how to make your own beats? What if you just like having fun making beats but have no intention of becoming a musician? That's where Incredibox comes in.  What is Incredibox? Awesomeness. You just go to the site and click on the avatars and create a beat. Here's where it gets fun: if you make a good beat, or err... the "right" one, you unlock a cool video clip of the beat you made. I know, sounds weird but it will make total sense once you get started on it. I have to admit that my thirteen year old daughter (the comic fan) introduced this to me when I was considering blogging about something else (sorry other topic, I'm done with you).  So you can create fun beats, pla...

The Sound Of Music: Video Tutorials For Aspiring Artists and Audio Engineers

Recently, while working on a marketing project and driving the clients social media content, I realized that a large portion of the client's following were musicians. After brainstorming a few angles to exploit potential marketing opportunities, I began to think of just how hard it is to successfully penetrate the music industry. This led me to do some online research (where else do we research anymore?) and I found Waves . Waves is an online merchant providing signal processing solutions for professional, broadcast and consumer electronics audio markets. Their products range from Mixers & Racks to Plugins and Bundles. Pricing vary according to what you are looking to purchase. There is also a page of artist testimonials to give credibility to the quality of the products offered.  Aside from the points mentioned above, what truly made me appreciate Waves was the page within the their website dedicated to video tutorials . It provides a wealth of information to those who ...

K-Ci & Jo-Jo Come Clean.... : REVIEW

When I heard that K-Ci and Jo-Jo were coming out with a reality show documenting their experience going through rehab, I was excited. The first thing I wanted to know was which one was K-Ci and which one was Jo-Jo (yes, it has been that long since I have seen let alone heard of them since highschool). I always loved Jodeci and when the two lead singers of the group branched off and made a few ballads I looked forward to hearing more, but more never came. Years passed by and I continued to play their hits and came to terms with the fact that this group was never going to reunite and the two brothers whose vocals lead the group to super stardom with were coked up and out for the count. Enter K-Ci and Jo-Jo: Coming Clean. I figured they were going to finally boot the snow blizzard that packed their nostrils. WRONG. They are kicking the alcohol habit. They claim that there was never a drug problem. We all have heard otherwise, but they insist. If moscato can turn me into what these t...

WWLGD (What Would Lady Gaga Do)?

Often in jest, I will tell people that I only do things that Lady Gaga would do. Lady Gaga being the "New Age Madonna" has caused quite a stir with her freedom of expression which is often displayed in her lyrics and fashion sense. Since she is considered "outrageous" to many, claiming to live by her rules makes for a great joke. Apparently, I am not the only one who has adopted this method of decision making. The summer months has brought myriad of fashion statements that were once considered faux-pas and now have become somewhat common place (much to my dismay). From flip flops becoming the staple of footwear, no matter how haphazard the toes of the person wearing them to halter tops that don't begin to cover the massive mounds of flesh spilling out of them people seem to be embracing freedom to express everything . Lady Gaga's hit single "Just Dance" implores the listener to get up and move no matter what the situation. The catchy beat does...
